Abortion Assistance: Do You Know the Answer to These 3 Questions?

Abortion Assistance: Do You Know the Answer to These 3 Questions?

You may find yourself in an unplanned pregnancy and considering abortion. There are 3 important pieces of information that you need to have before you can make a decision about that pregnancy and what kind of abortion you are eligible for.

Question #1: Are Your Really Pregnant?

The first bit of information that you need to know is if you’re really pregnant. 31% of pregnancies end on their own before 8 weeks. Here in our office, we will give you a clinical pregnancy test to determine if you are really pregnant.

Question #2: How Far Along Are You?

The second piece of information you need is to know how far along you are. The cost and the type of abortion procedure you would be eligible for are greatly affected by how far along your pregnancy is. The only sure way to know that is to do an ultrasound. Here in our office, we would do an ultrasound to determine the gestational age of your pregnancy.

Question #3: Do You Have an STD?

The third piece of information that’s very important is that you need to know if you have an STD. Having an abortion with an untreated STD can cause great risk to your future reproductive health, and we want to help protect that.

Being pregnant when you didn’t intend to is overwhelming and brings with it a lot of questions. The partiality of abortion clinics, personal doubts, and political arguments about abortion don’t have to cloud your judgement. You can have the confidence to make an educated, informed choice about this pregnancy. The choice is yours, but you don’t have to make it alone.

Take a Deep Breath

Are you facing an unplanned pregnancy today?  No doubt you feel like you need to resolve this crisis quickly.  The nurses at CompassCare understand how you’re feeling.  Meet Kathy.

“I understand that you’re pregnant and that’s a scary thing for you, and that your feeling like you have all of these plans in front of you that you were hoping to do this year and that’s kind of up in the air now that you’re pregnant – and you don’t want to trade that off for a baby. On the other hand, this is reality. So I’m encouraging you to just think about it for awhile, and don’t feel pressured into making a choice before you’re ready to make a choice. Why don’t we talk about what the options are? We’ll think about it for a little bit so that you’re not facing feeling regret; making a decision in the spur of the moment under the pressure of circumstances in life right now and all of the voices that come against you right now. This is your decision. This is your life. And we’re here to help support you in processing your options and finding what will work for you.

“My name is Kathey Mauer and I’m a staff nurse at CompassCare in Rochester.”

What is Informed Consent?

“Every state requires that a patient consent before undergoing medical treatment and that the consent be ‘informed,’”1 yet only 35 states require that women receive counseling before an abortion is performed. This does not excuse your healthcare provider from fulfilling their responsibilities to communicate all possible short- and long-term side-effects of each treatment option. Your […]
